Electronics recycling company ecoATM, citing EPA figures, said that household waste increases more than 25 percent from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Day. That’s around one million tons per week more than is usually produced.
The company recommends that you do a few things this year to reduce the amount of waste you produce. One way to do this is to use newspaper, paper bags from the store and other already-used paper products to wrap your gifts in. You should also re-use the wrapping paper and ribbons you received with last year’s gifts, if you saved it.
You can also forego wrapping gifts altogether. Your eco-aware friends and family will understand.
