Remember when people named their pets “Fido,” or “Fluffy,” or simply “Fred?” Some people undoubtedly still use these names, but others are turning to more exotic ones like “Sir Hog Knucklehead.” No, that wasn’t a typo.
Recently, the Veterinary Pet Insurance Co. compiled a listing of strange pet named culled from its massive database of pets, and their owners. Each year they compile a list of them, and the Wackiest Pet Names of 2014 is a real doozy.
Along with Sir Hog Knucklehead, this year’s Top 10 includes: Peanut Wigglebutt, Sasha Biggiepotamus Fierce, Otto Von Longdog, Zippity Do Dawg, Airbubble McMuffin, Hamburger Patty, Angus T Brackencrack, Mister Buddy Pickles and Waffle Dot.
The owners of these pets always have the option of shortening these wacky names to “Peanut, “Otto, “Angus,” etc. Using a truly unique full name can actually help to distinguish the name of an individual pet on such things as insurance paperwork or veterinary files.
So, in a way this practice makes sense.
