There is a lot happening at the credit union that we are excited to share with you!
In February, we completed the renovations at our Gracewood branch as well as the conversion of all former Richmond Community FCU member accounts to our system. We are pleased to now have all of our member accounts at Peach State and once again welcome these newest members to our credit union family.
To celebrate this new Peach State branch, we held a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Open House on Wednesday, March 23rd. It was a great way to commemorate both the branch renovations and the successful merger between Peach State and Richmond Community. We were pleased to be able to celebrate with fellow credit union employees, former Richmond Community volunteers and notable community leaders. A special thank you to MEMBERS AutoChoice™ and Howe Construction, Inc. for providing lunch for the event.
An upcoming initiative well worthy of mention involves a new project with Central Gwinnett High School (CGHS). We will be opening an in-school branch in time for the 2016-17 school year for CGHS’s faculty, students and their families. The branch will be primarily run by the students at CGHS. We are also looking forward to welcoming seven students from the high school who have been selected to serve as interns with Peach State. The effort will not only help foster financial literacy for the students, but will also serve as a great way for them to acquire hands-on experience in the work force. This spring we will spend time getting ready for our new interns as well as training the students who will be working in the branch.
Our hope is to replicate this model and open additional in-school branches within our credit union’s geographical footprint. As an education-based credit union, we are always looking for opportunities to support our schools. There’s no better way to do that than to team up with today’s youth. Stay tuned for additional details about our project with CGHS. As always, we appreciate the opportunity to serve you and your families.
