Each quarter, our member newsletter features a message from our President and CEO, Marshall Boutwell about happenings at Peach State.
It’s hard to believe Spring is almost here. We have a lot of exciting things going on at the credit union, many centering on new products – online banking, investment services, a partnership with Fran Tarkenton’s group at GoSmallBiz – all this in addition to the new mobile banking technology we’ll be launching this year. But there is one other item that I’d like to address first.
Over the last couple of years, we have been keeping a close eye on transaction volumes in the branches. The average new account activity, transactions and loans at our Norcross branch have not grown since we opened in 2007. This can be attributed to many things, not the least of which is the change in consumer behavior as we see more and more of our members utilize eCommerce for their banking needs. Since we have several other branches in Gwinnett County, we have made the difficult decision to close the Norcross branch on May 22nd. Closing a branch is not something that we take lightly; however, there simply is no strategic long-term benefit in keeping this location. We believe closing this branch is in the best interest of the credit union and our members. I am happy to report that you’ll see the smiling faces of these staff members at our other locations.
Elsewhere in the newsletter you’ll see more details on the rollout of GoSmallBiz.com and Peach State Investment Services. By partnering with GoSmallBiz, we’ll be able to offer business members the tools to help grow their company – no matter the size. Peach State Investment Services will be available to members mid-April. Designed exclusively for credit union members, it offers something for everyone – from those just starting a savings plan, to those with sizable assets looking for more sophisticated financial management tools.
We’re very excited to bring you these additional services that complement the full suite of products we currently offer members like you. I hope you like them as much as we do.
